Shilpa Shirodkar opens up on her shelved films
Talking about how her films were shelved, Shilpa Shirodkar said, “The industry had jinxed me up like crazy, jinx. Unhone label kiya tha ki yeh jinx hai, yeh toh koi bhi film karegi woh launch ke baad banegi hi nahi, you know like that. Toh Riku Ji aur Mithunda ka achha rishta hai. Unhone Dada ke pass mere photos lekar gaye aur bole, Dada aisa aisa hai, koi film hai toh batana Shilpa ke liye. Toh bole ki, mai ‘Bhrashtrachar’ kar raha hu Ramesh Sippy ji ke pass jayiye and see I will put a name for her. Aur waise mujhe Bhrashtachar mili.”
She added, “So that’s the reason, like I say, Gautam ke photos ke wajah se mai Rikku Ji aur Dada se mili. Aur unke wajah se maine apni pehli film sign ki hai. It was not a main lead. It was just a character in the film, a small character. Lekin mera kaam karna bohot zaruri tha. And like I tell everyone ki, zindagi me koi regret nahi hai. Kai logo ko bohot badi badi films milti hai aur apna launch waise hota hai unka. Lekin meri journey waise hui hai aur har film mere liye ek kahani hai mere growth ke liye. I was very, very young at that launch.”
